Why is it called boring?

Because it is. Boring software is good software. Pursuing an ever-increasing scope of features doesn't necessarily make software better.

Is boring tiling, stacking, or floating?

The window management strategy is up to you. You can make your own with a plugin, and it isn't terribly complicated. However, for the lazy in you, we maintain three official plugins for window management:

• layout-stacking, which provides a traditional desktop layout
• layout-tiling, which is inspired by Sway's n-ary trees
• layout-kiosk, which displays a single, full-screen window
